Chemical Skin Peel

What is a Chemical Skin Peel?

Chemical skin peels can improve the appearance and health of the skin on the face, hands and neck by reducing/eliminating many of our skin imperfections. As a result of extrinsic/intrinsic factors i.e. sun exposure, clogged pores, acne and aging – these often result in uneven skin tone, scarring and a dull complexion.

Good candidates for light chemical peels are patients who have relatively mild skin imperfections and conditions, and who want to rejuvenate and enhance the appearance of their skin without the recovery time.

When you’re considering facial peels it’s important to remember that there are many different types. Some peels are “light”, removing the very superficial layers of skin to help improve uneven pigmentation These “light” peels are excellent for freshening up your complexion and giving your skin that healthy glow without any downtime. On the other hand, deeper peels such as the “TCA” peel go much deeper into the skin and remove many more layers – unfortunately they also carry approximately 1 week of downtime!

What does the treatment involve?

In preparation for a light chemical peel, the skin is first gently cleansed. Then the chemical solution is applied to the treated area. As the chemical solution works on the skin, the patient will typically feel a warm tingling/stinging sensation. After the chemical solution has been on the skin for the prescribed amount of time, the physician will wash it away with water and apply a calming lotion.

The entire process of a skin peel, will take approximately 40 minutes. After a light chemical peel, the patient can expect to return to daily activities immediately.

What Kind of Results can I Expect?

Unlike deep chemical peels, which require only 1 session, clients generally undergo 4-6 treatments of light chemical peel to achieve optimal results. Our Light Chemical Skin Peel is suitable for everyone because it has no downtime and can be used on all skin types. As well as rebuilding the health of your skin over time with regular treatments, immediately following your light chemical peel, you will notice that the treated skin has improved tone, texture, and pigmentation.
